Product Specific Information

Target Information

Tmem119 encodes a single-pass type I transmembrane protein that interacts with various micro-RNAs and transcription factors such as SMAD1, SMAD5, and RUNX2.
It serves as a reliable surface marker for microglia, distinguishing them from infiltrating macrophages.
Microglial cells are brain-resident phagocytes involved in debris clearance and neuronal dendrite pruning, exhibiting both neuroprotective and neurotoxic roles depending on environmental cues.
Reactive microglia co-express Iba1 and are implicated in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis.
Outside the nervous system, TMEM119 may play a role in osteoblast differentiation and ossification.
