Product Specific Information
Reconstitution: 50 µL double distilled water (DDW), depending on the sample size.
The antibody ships as a lyophilized powder at room temperature. Upon arrival, store at -20°C.
The reconstituted solution can be stored at 4°C for up to 1 week. For longer storage, aliquot and store at -20°C.
Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10,000 × g, 5 min).
Target Information
Tmem119 encodes a single-pass type I transmembrane protein that interacts with multiple micro-RNAs and transcription factors such as SMAD1, SMAD5, and RUNX2.
It serves as a surface marker for microglia, distinguishing them from infiltrating macrophages. Microglia are brain-resident phagocytes involved in debris clearance and dendritic pruning, exhibiting neuroprotective and neurotoxic roles depending on their environment.
Reactive microglia co-express Iba1 and can induce A1-type astrocytes via secretion of Cq1, IL-1α, and TNF upon LPS stimulation, contributing to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis.
Outside the nervous system, Tmem119 is implicated in osteoblast differentiation and ossification.
