Target Information

TRPV4 (Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily V Member 4)
TRPV4 is a cation-selective channel activated in response to systemic osmotic pressure. It is a non-selective calcium-permeant cation channel involved in osmotic sensitivity and mechanosensitivity.
TRPV4 belongs to the OSM9-like transient receptor potential channel (OTRPC) subfamily within the TRP superfamily.
Mutations in the TRPV4 gene are associated with disorders such as metatropic dysplasia, spondylometaphyseal dysplasia (Kozlowski type), and hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy type IIC. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
