Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
Target Information
hCG beta is the beta chain of hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin), a 40 kDa glycoprotein hormone produced by trophoblastic cells of the placenta beginning 10–12 days after conception.
hCG consists of alpha and beta subunits that are non-covalently associated. The alpha subunit is similar to those found in pituitary hormones (FSH, LH, TSH), while the beta subunit confers biological specificity.
During the first trimester of pregnancy, hCG binds to the corpus luteum to stimulate progesterone production, maintaining the secretory endometrium.
Diseases associated with hCG dysfunction include gestational trophoblastic tumor and hydatidiform mole.
