Target Information
ATG4C는 자가포식(autophagy) 과정에 관여하는 단백질로, 세포 내 단백질과 손상된 소기관을 분해하는 역할을 합니다. 자가포식은 세포 항상성 유지 및 분화, 변태, 비아폽토시스성 세포사, 노화 과정에서 중요합니다. 일부 악성 종양에서 자가포식 수준이 감소하며, 암 관련 비정상적인 세포 성장 조절에 관여할 가능성이 제시되었습니다. ATG4C는 autophagin 단백질군에 속하며, C-54 family cysteine protease로 분류됩니다. 이 효소는 MAP1LC3, GABARAPL2, GABARAP의 C-말단을 절단하여 form I을 유리시키며, form I은 이후 form II로 전환됩니다. Form II는 phosphatidylethanolamine (PE)과 결합하여 autophagosome에 결합할 수 있습니다. ATG4C는 골격근, 심장, 간, 고환에서 높은 수준으로 발현됩니다.
