Target Information
This gene encodes a serine/threonine phosphatase that belongs to the protein phosphatase catalytic subunit family. Members of this family regulate pathways controlled by reversible phosphorylation of serine and threonine residues, which are critical for cell growth and differentiation. The PPP5C protein participates in signaling pathways responsive to hormones or cellular stress, and elevated levels may be associated with breast cancer development. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
