Product Specific Information

MA1-7635 detects CD22 from human, rat and mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in ELISA, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry procedures.
The immunogen is a CD22 protein.

Target Information

CD22 (BL-CAM) is a type 1 integral membrane glycoprotein with molecular weight of 130–140 kDa.
It is expressed in both the cytoplasm and cell membrane of B-lymphocytes.
CD22 antigen appears early in B-cell lymphocyte differentiation at approximately the same stage as CD19 antigen.
CD22 membrane expression is limited to late differentiation stages between mature B cells (CD22+) and plasma cells (CD22−), and may be useful in phenotyping mature leukemias.
It is strongly expressed in hairy cell leukemia and also positive in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and nodular lymphocyte predominance Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but negative in classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
CD22 preferentially binds to α2,6-linked sialic acid, and its recognition site can be masked by cis interactions on the same cell surface.
Upon ligand-induced tyrosine phosphorylation, CD22 is involved in regulation of B-cell antigen receptor signaling, acting both as a positive regulator through Src family kinases and as an inhibitory receptor by recruiting cytoplasmic phosphatases.
