Target Information
The protein encoded by the PTPN11 gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates diverse cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This PTP contains two tandem Src homology-2 (SH2) domains that mediate phospho-tyrosine binding and substrate interactions. It is widely expressed and plays a key role in signaling pathways involved in mitogenic activation, metabolic control, transcription regulation, and cell migration.
Mutations in this gene are associated with Noonan syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.
