Target Information
Variant histone H2A that replaces conventional H2A in a subset of nucleosomes, where it represses transcription. Nucleosomes compact DNA into chromatin, regulating accessibility for transcription, replication, and repair. Histone modifications and nucleosome remodeling play key roles in chromatin-based gene regulation. H2AFY2 may contribute to stable X chromosome inactivation.
