For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
The cystatin superfamily includes proteins with multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some act as cysteine protease inhibitors, while others do not.
There are three inhibitory families: type 1 cystatins (stefins), type 2 cystatins, and kininogens.
Type 2 cystatin proteins function as cysteine proteinase inhibitors found in various human fluids and secretions.
The CST4 gene is part of the cystatin locus on chromosome 20 and encodes a type 2 salivary cysteine peptidase inhibitor.
CST4 is an S-type cystatin expressed in saliva, tears, and seminal plasma, with potential antibacterial and antiviral activity.
