Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological roles. Many kallikreins are associated with carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK8 gene, part of the kallikrein family cluster on chromosome 19, may be involved in skin proteolytic cascades and act as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternative splicing leads to multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
