Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins은 핵 유전자에 의해 암호화되며, 미토콘드리아 내 단백질 합성에 관여합니다.
Mitochondrial ribosomes(미토리보솜)은 작은 28S 소단위체와 큰 39S 소단위체로 구성되어 있으며, 단백질 대 rRNA 비율이 약 75%로, 원핵 리보솜과는 반대의 구성을 가집니다.
또한 원핵 리보솜에는 5S rRNA가 포함되어 있으나, 포유류 미토리보솜에는 존재하지 않습니다.
이 유전자는 28S 소단위체 단백질을 암호화하며, death associated protein 3(DAP3)의 기능적 파트너로 작용할 수 있습니다.
