Product Specific Information
- Reconstitution: Add 25 µL, 50 µL, or 0.2 mL of double distilled water (DDW), depending on sample size.

Glutamate receptors are the main excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are involved in various neurophysiological processes.
Grik5, also known as kainate-preferring glutamate receptor subunit KA2, belongs to the kainate family of glutamate receptors. These receptors are composed of four subunits and function as ligand-activated ion channels.
Grik5 is highly homologous to Grik4 (KA1) and forms heteromeric, but not homomeric, channels—typically with Grik2. In Grik2 knockout mice, Grik5 surface expression is significantly reduced, indicating Grik2/Grik5 heteromers are essential for transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the cell surface.
