Target Information
This gene belongs to the Antp homeobox family and encodes a nuclear protein containing a homeobox DNA-binding domain. It is part of the homeobox B gene cluster on chromosome 17. The encoded protein acts as a sequence-specific transcription factor involved in development.
Increased expression is linked to colorectal cancer.
Knockout mice for the murine ortholog show excessive grooming behavior, similar to human trichotillomania seen in obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders.
