Target Information
ATXN7L3 is a component of the transcription regulatory histone acetylation (HAT) complex SAGA, which activates transcription through chromatin remodeling and histone modification. Within the SAGA complex, ATXN7L3 participates in a subcomplex that deubiquitinates histones H2A and H2B. It is recruited to gene promoters by activators such as MYC and is essential for transcriptional activation. ATXN7L3 plays a role in recruiting USP22 and ENY2 into the SAGA complex and regulates H2B monoubiquitination (H2Bub1) levels, affecting the subcellular distribution of ENY2, USP22, and ATXN7L3B.
