Target Information
CACNA1D, also known as PASNA, SANDD, or CaV1.3, encodes a voltage-dependent calcium channel alpha-1D subunit. These channels mediate calcium entry into excitable cells and are involved in processes such as muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, and gene expression. The channel is a multisubunit complex composed of alpha-1, beta, alpha-2/delta, and gamma subunits. The alpha-1 subunit forms the pore and determines channel properties. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
