Target Information
Heterogeneous nuclear RNAs (hnRNAs), including mRNA precursors and mature mRNAs, associate with specific proteins to form heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) complexes. hnRNP L is one of the proteins stably associated with these complexes and plays a major role in mRNA formation, packaging, processing, and function. It is present in the nucleoplasm as part of the hnRNP complex but can also be found outside the nucleoplasm. hnRNP proteins shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm, suggesting potential cytoplasmic functions. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
