Target Information
This gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates expression of downstream target genes related to growth, survival, and other cellular activities.
Phosphorylation at serine 63 by various kinases enhances transactivation and transcriptional activities, promoting cell transformation.
Gene fusion with FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) produces chimeric proteins associated with angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma.
A pseudogene is present on chromosome 6.
