Target Information
Syndecans are heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) involved in cell adhesion, tissue morphogenesis, and differentiation. They act as low affinity co-receptors of soluble growth factors. Syndecan-2 participates in mitogenic activity and signaling of Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony-stimulating factor in osteoblasts and regulates matrix assembly. It is expressed at epithelial-mesenchymal interfaces and in prechondrogenic and preosteogenic mesenchymal condensations, areas of high morphogenetic activity.
