Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The PCBP2 protein is a multifunctional poly(rC)-binding protein, along with PCBP-1 and hnRNPK. It contains three K-homologous (KH) domains involved in RNA binding.
Together with PCBP-1, it acts as a translational coactivator of poliovirus RNA by interacting with the IRES region, promoting RNA replication.
PCBP2 is also implicated in the translational regulation of 15-lipoxygenase mRNA, HPV type 16 L2 mRNA, and hepatitis A virus RNA.
Additionally, it contributes to the stability of alpha-globin mRNA through formation of a specific mRNP complex.
This gene has paralogs (PCBP3, PCBP4) and processed pseudogenes (PCBP2P1, PCBP2P2), with multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
