Product Specific Information

Antibody detects endogenous levels of CD227/MUC1 only when phosphorylated at Tyrosine 1229.

Target Information

MUC1 (Mucin 1, Episialin, MAM-6, CA 15-3, PEM, EMA) is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic cell lineages.
It is a transmembrane glycoprotein with a large mucin-like extracellular domain that matures through proteolysis and extensive O-linked glycosylation.
MUC1 is highly polymorphic, with alleles encoding different numbers of tandem repeats (30–90), resulting in variable molecular weights.
It is abundantly expressed in >90% breast carcinomas and metastases.
Overexpression, aberrant localization, and altered glycosylation of MUC1 are associated with carcinomas.
Multiple alternatively spliced variants exist, with some full-length forms characterized.
