Target Information
SNX6 interacts with members of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) receptor family of serine-threonine kinases. These receptors include type II receptors that bind ligand and type I receptors that are subsequently recruited to transduce the signal.
SNX6 strongly interacts with ActRIIB and more moderately with wild-type and kinase-defective mutants of TβRII. Among type I receptors, SNX6 interacts only with inactivated TβRI.
SNXs 1–4 also interact with the TGF-β receptor family, showing different receptor preferences. Conversely, SNX6 behaves similarly to other SNX proteins in its interactions with receptor tyrosine kinases. Strong heteromeric interactions among SNX1, -2, -4, and -6 suggest the formation of oligomeric complexes in vivo.
These findings provide the first evidence of association between the SNX family and receptor serine-threonine kinases.
