Target Information
Langerin (CD207) is a type II membrane-associated C-type lectin expressed exclusively by Langerhans cells. It recognizes mannose residues via its carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) and is localized both on the cell surface and intracellularly in association with Birbeck granules. Expression of Langerin induces the formation of membrane structures typical of Birbeck granules, contributing to membrane superimposition and zippering processes.
