Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.
Target Information
This gene encodes the light subunit of the ferritin protein. Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes, composed of 24 subunits of heavy and light chains. Variation in ferritin subunit composition may affect iron uptake and release rates in different tissues. The major function of ferritin is to store iron in a soluble and nontoxic form.
Defects in this light chain ferritin gene are associated with neurodegenerative diseases and hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome. This gene has multiple pseudogenes.
