CPVL 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 carboxypeptidase로서 serine carboxypeptidases와 높은 서열 유사성을 가집니다. Carboxypeptidases는 단백질 또는 펩타이드의 카르복시 말단에서 단일 아미노산을 절단하는 프로테아제 계열에 속합니다. 본 단백질의 정확한 기능은 아직 규명되지 않았습니다.
