In direct ELISAs and Western blots, less than 5% cross-reactivity with recombinant human ADAM8, ADAM9, and ADAM22 is observed.
Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

Target Information

ADAMs (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain), also known as MDCs (metalloproteinase, disintegrin, and cysteine-rich domain), are a family of membrane-anchored proteins expressed in various tissues. They are involved in proteolysis, adhesion, fusion, and intracellular signaling.
ADAM23 is expressed exclusively in fetal and adult brain and may function as an integrin ligand in neural cells. Its disintegrin-like domain promotes adhesion of neuroblastoma and astrocytoma cells through interaction with αvβ3 integrin.
Unlike other metalloproteinases, ADAM23 lacks the catalytic histidine and glutamic acid residues, suggesting a role in cell adhesion rather than protease activity. Evidence also indicates ADAM23 may act as a tumor suppressor gene.
