CD36 (scavenger receptor class B member 3)는 다양한 세포 표면(대식세포, 혈소판, 지방세포 등)에 발현되는 단백질로, 지질 대사, 염증, 죽상동맥경화에 관여합니다.
산화된 LDL, 장쇄 지방산, 세포사멸체 등의 리간드를 인식 및 흡수하며, 말라리아 병리에도 관련되어 있습니다.
혈소판에서 thrombospondin 수용체로 작용하며, 콜라겐, 음이온성 인지질, 산화 LDL에 결합합니다.
Plasmodium falciparum에 감염된 적혈구의 부착을 매개하며, 해당 유전자의 돌연변이는 혈소판 당단백 결핍을 유발할 수 있습니다.
CD36 관련 질환으로는 Platelet Glycoprotein IV Deficiency와 Coronary Heart Disease 7이 보고되어 있습니다.
