Target Information
The Teashirt zinc finger homeobox (TSHZ) family comprises evolutionarily conserved transcription factors. In Drosophila, they are active in specific body parts for patterning, while their role in vertebrates is less clear.
In mice, three known TSHZ proteins are expressed in distinct patterns in the developing and adult brain, indicating roles in regional identity and cell type specification.
Recent studies show TSHZ2 expression is frequently downregulated in most breast and prostate cancers, with its promoter unmethylated in nearly all cases, suggesting involvement in carcinogenesis.
