Target Information
CXCR1 is a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor family and serves as a receptor for interleukin 8 (IL8). It binds IL8 with high affinity and transduces signals via a G-protein-activated second messenger system. Knockout studies in mice suggest that CXCR1 inhibits embryonic oligodendrocyte precursor migration in the developing spinal cord. The CXCR1 gene (IL8RA), IL8RB, and IL8RBP pseudogene form a gene cluster located on chromosome 2q33–q36.
