C2orf40 (ECRG4)은 중추신경계의 희소돌기아교세포 및 신경전구세포의 증식을 억제하고 세포 노화를 유도할 가능성이 있는 호르몬으로 추정됩니다.
ECRG4에 의해 유도된 세포 노화는 G1기 정지, RB1 탈인산화, CCND1 및 CCND3의 프로테아좀 분해 촉진으로 특징지어집니다.
