• Heat-mediated antigen retrieval using sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended for paraffin section staining.
• Suitable for Western Blotting under reducing or non-reducing conditions.
• Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water. For long-term storage, add 0.09% sodium azide (unless used for functional assays).
• Store at 4°C prior to reconstitution; after reconstitution, store undiluted at -20°C and avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
• Rabbit anti-human TGFα recognizes transforming growth factor alpha.

Target Information

TGF-alpha is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor (EGFR) and stimulates proliferation of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and various tumor cells, and induces anchorage-independent transformation in cultured cells.
Human, murine, and rat TGF-alpha are cross-reactive. TGF-alpha (aa 50) shares 33% homology with EGF, binds EGFR, activates tyrosine phosphorylation, and promotes cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing a reversible transformed phenotype.
