Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is part of a potentially heterotetrameric voltage-independent potassium channel activated by intracellular calcium. Activation leads to membrane hyperpolarization, promoting calcium influx. It may represent the predominant calcium-activated potassium channel in T-lymphocytes. While similar to other KCNN family potassium channels, it may belong to a distinct subfamily.
