Target Information
GCPR54 (KISS1R) is a galanin-like G protein coupled receptor that binds metastin, a peptide encoded by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1. The protein is involved in endocrine regulation and plays a role in the onset of puberty.
GPR54 is expressed in various human tissues including brain regions, placenta, pancreas, spinal cord, spleen, peripheral blood leukocytes, testis, lymph node, thymus, small intestine, stomach, lung, kidney, and tumor tissues.
In rat, expression is observed in liver, intestine, pons, midbrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, hippocampus, amygdala, cortex, and striatum. ESTs have been isolated from normal placenta and kidney cancer libraries.
