Target Information
Retinoid-related orphan receptor beta (ROR beta), a NR1 thyroid hormone receptor, plays a critical role in the development and function of the central nervous system, including sensory input integration and circadian rhythm regulation.
Disruption of ROR beta in mice leads to juvenile ataxia, retinal degeneration, circadian activity abnormalities, and delayed male fertility onset.
ROR beta binds monomeric response elements containing the sequence AnnTAGGTCA as a monomer.
An alternatively spliced isoform, ROR beta2, is expressed in the pineal gland and retina, sharing DNA- and ligand-binding domains with wild-type ROR beta but differing in the amino-terminal domain.
Expression of ROR beta has been documented in various regions of the mouse brain.
