Background
The protein encoded by this gene shares significant homology with the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) protein-binding EB1 gene family. This microtubule-associated protein is necessary for spindle symmetry during mitosis and may play a role in colorectal cancer tumorigenesis and normal cell proliferation control. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. (RefSeq, Jan 2012)
