Target Information
This gene encodes an ubiquitin-like protein (ubiquilin) that shares high similarity with related proteins in yeast, rat, and frog.
Ubiquilins contain an N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain and a C-terminal ubiquitin-associated domain.
They associate with proteasomes and ubiquitin ligases, linking the ubiquitination machinery to proteasomal degradation.
Ubiquilin 2 also binds the ATPase domain of the Hsp70-like Stch protein.
