Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as novel cancer and disease biomarkers. The Kallikrein 8 gene is one of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in tandem on chromosome 19. The encoded protein may be involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin and serve as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
