Target Information
The Olfactomedin family comprises a diverse group of secreted glycoproteins, including OLFM1 (Noelin-1), OLFM2 (Noelin-2), OLFM3 (Noelin-3), OLFM4 (Noelin-4), tiarin, pancortin, gliomedin, and mycocilin. These proteins are involved in nervous system development. OLFM1 and OLFM2 expression is observed in the neural plate, neural crest, and cranial ganglia in mouse embryos (E8–10), as well as in brain tissue and limb zone of polarizing activity. Overexpression of OLFM1 leads to excess neural crest emigration and prolonged neural crest production. OLFM2 regulates anterior nervous system development, and an Arg144Gln mutation in OLFM2 may be associated with open-angle glaucoma (OAG).
