Target Information
ERp72 is an endoplasmic reticulum luminal protein that functions as both a stress protein and a member of the protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) family. Sequence analysis shows ERp72 shares identity with PDI at three discrete regions and contains the ER retention signal KEEL at its C-terminus.
It possesses three copies of CGHC-containing active sites, essential for protein disulfide isomerization.
These features indicate that ERp72 acts as a molecular chaperone and a newly described member of the CGHC-containing protein family.
