Target Information
Proteins containing LIM motifs are typically involved in cell fate determination and growth control. LIM kinases, including LIMK-1 and LIMK-2, regulate F-actin stabilization and cofilin activity, influencing cell motility and morphogenesis. LIMK-1 inhibits neuronal differentiation of PC12 cells by interfering with MAPK downstream events. Expression patterns of LIMK-1 and LIMK-2 suggest distinct developmental roles. A truncated LIMK-2 form found in adult testis may result from alternative exon initiation.
