Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical catalytic domains that phosphorylates multiple residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. It is mainly localized in the cytoplasm and plays a crucial role in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, cell motility (including metastasis), immune response, and tissue repair. Acting downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, its main physiological target is the S6 ribosomal protein, which promotes protein synthesis. Overexpression and gene amplification of p70S6K have been observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
