Target Information
SFPQ (also named PSF) encodes a nuclear factor involved in RNA splicing and gene expression regulation. It forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and repair. SFPQ has been identified as a downstream target of tau, showing nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease brains. Reduced SFPQ levels may correlate with tau pathology, suggesting its important role in neurodegenerative diseases including AD. The SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa forms in various cell types.
