Target Information
CABP1 is a member of the S100 family of calcium-binding proteins containing two EF-hand motifs. These proteins are found in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of various cell types and regulate cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 genes are clustered on chromosome 1q21. CABP1 may play roles in Ca²⁺-dependent insulin release, prolactin secretion, and exocytosis. Chromosomal rearrangements and altered expression have been linked to melanoma.
