Anti-Alpha Amylase is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis against the specified buffer.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Biotin, anti-Rabbit Serum, as well as purified and partially purified α-Amylase (B. amyloliquefaciens).
Cross-reactivity against α-Amylase from other sources may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Amylases are secreted proteins that hydrolyze 1,4-α-glucoside bonds in oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, catalyzing the first step in digestion of dietary starch and glycogen.
The human genome contains several amylase genes expressed at high levels in either the salivary gland or pancreas. It is an amylase isoenzyme produced by the salivary gland.
