Target Information
COX4I2 is a component of cytochrome c oxidase, the terminal enzyme of the mitochondrial electron transport chain responsible for oxidative phosphorylation. This enzyme complex catalyzes the reduction of oxygen to water, transferring electrons from cytochrome c and contributing to the proton gradient that drives ATP synthesis. The active site includes heme A3 and copper B centers that facilitate oxygen reduction.
