This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Apolipoprotein CIV (APOC4) protein.
Target Information
Apolipoproteins are protein components of plasma lipoproteins. The apolipoprotein C gene family encodes four homologous proteins designated apoC-I to -IV, which modulate the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins.
- apoC-I: Located on chromosome 19q13.2, expressed primarily in the liver, activated during monocyte differentiation into macrophages.
- apoC-II: Located on chromosome 19q13.2, encodes a 79 amino acid single-chain protein, cofactor for lipoprotein lipase activation.
- apoC-III: Located on chromosome 11q23, delays catabolism of triglyceride-rich particles by inhibiting lipoprotein lipase and hepatic lipase.
- apoC-IV: Located on chromosome 19q13.2, encodes a 127 amino acid protein primarily expressed in the liver.
