Target Information
This gene encodes a major catalytic subunit of succinate-ubiquinone oxidoreductase, a component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex. The complex contains four nuclear-encoded subunits localized in the mitochondrial inner membrane.
Mutations in this gene are associated with mitochondrial respiratory chain deficiency, including Leigh Syndrome.
A pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 3q29.
