Product Specific Information

The OKT4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by thymocytes, mature T-helper cells, and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 acts as a receptor for HIV. OKT4 recognizes a distinct epitope from RPA-T4 and does not cross-block.
This antibody is validated for flow cytometric analysis and can be used at 5 µL (0.06 µg) per test.
Each test corresponds to staining a cell sample in 100 µL final volume (typically 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
Excitation: 488–561 nm; Emission: 578 nm; Compatible lasers: Blue, Green, Yellow-Green.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD4 is involved in recognition of MHC class II molecules and serves as a co-receptor for HIV. It is mainly expressed on T-helper cells and also found on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
Tissue expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of brain and gut.
CD4 functions in T-cell activation via association with the TCR complex and Lck kinase, and may mediate neuronal damage in infectious or immune-related CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts are known (RefSeq, July 2017).
