Target Information
The Teashirt zinc finger homeobox (TSHZ) family comprises evolutionarily conserved transcription factors that are involved in body patterning in Drosophila and may play roles in vertebrate brain development. In mice, TSHZ proteins are expressed in distinct patterns in the developing and adult brain, suggesting roles in regional identity and cell type specification. TSHZ3 and TSHZ1 interact with FE65, an adapter protein that binds to amyloid precursor protein (APP) in neurons, forming gene-silencing complexes with SET and histone deacetylases. These complexes can target genes such as caspase-4. Recent studies suggest potential involvement in carcinogenesis.
