Target Information
Chromosome 8, containing approximately 146 million bases and about 800 genes, is associated with various genetic conditions. Translocations involving chromosome 8 and amplification of the c-Myc gene are linked to certain leukemias and lymphomas. Portions of chromosome 8 have also been connected to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other syndromes such as Warkany syndrome 2 (trisomy 8), Pfeiffer syndrome, congenital hypothyroidism, and Waardenburg syndrome. The FKSG2 gene product has been provisionally designated FKSG2 pending further characterization.
